Back-to-school shopping rivals holiday shopping as my favorite. I think it goes back to my own childhood when I’d get a new wardrobe for school each year – there was something so fun about new clothes for the new year. It’s only July (in Canada most kids go back in late August so we have plenty of time to shop yet) but I’ve been keeping an eye on sales, and my dreams are going to have the sound of a cash register in them in time I’m sure.
This summer, I’m bound and determined that my 7 year old will learn to tie laces. Yes, up until now I’ve been on the hunt for velcro shoes for him (harder to find in bigger sizes!) and haven’t been able to get him things like the super-cool dc skate shoes some of his friends have. Irony that the kid with the highest average in his class can’t tie shoes, right? Ah well…we all have our strengths!
With many of my favorite stores for kids clothes finally being online (it took Canadian retailers awhile), the majority of my shopping will be online this year for back to school. That way I can enjoy the sunshine on my deck, and shop with my chacos up instead of dealing with the crowds and over-air-conditioned malls.
What about you? Are you going to hit the malls or shop online instead?
I’m a notorious online shopper – Check out gromfarm.com & their affiliate axlscloset.com for stellar deals on namebrand clothes…for boys & girls! $2 flat rate shipping to Canada and I have yet to pay for taxes & duties when it’s delivered!
Oh I like that shipping rate, off to check them out, thanks!
I’ll probably do mine in over-air-conditioned malls. My daughter is very particular about her clothing (she’s only 8) and has to try on every single article of clothing.
eh, Einstien couldn’t tie his shoes…..I am excited to go shopping for Winston’s first day of school outfit…his first one!
I hear you on tieing laces. My youngest is eleven and still wants velcro shoes. He’s not quick at tieing his laces and hates it. He was older than 7 when he learned.
The over air conditioned mall sounds great right about now! I’m melting in Ontario with no AC. Anyway, I do love back to school shopping, well truth be told I love all shopping, other than grocery shopping!
