Field of Vision (Presented by Walmart and P&G)

Remember “after school specials” on tv?  I’m not sure when they stopped showing these but if you’re reading this and have no idea what I’m talking about you must be a child of the 90’s.  Those of us who grew up in the 70’s and 80’s remember them well.  They usually featured one or more of our favorite television actors and always included a theme or message about a social problem facing teenagers and a positive way to handle it.  A little dorky, maybe, but we always watched them, right?

In the past year or so, Walmart and P&G have teamed up to present Family Movie Night, bringing us back to the wholesomeness of those after school specials with movies suitable for the whole family to sit down and watch together, always with a great message.  Saturday, June 11 on NBC at 8pm ET/7pm CT, families can sit down together to watch the newest in this series – Field of Vision.

In the movie, high school quarterback Tyler McFarland learns that some of his teammates have been bullying a new student, Cory Walker.  Tyler knows that telling the coach this information will likely mean his teammates will be punished, but he also knows that to stay silent is not going to help Cory or anyone else being bullied.

A sub-story about Cory’s unknown past (even to him) and Tyler’s little sister’ Lucy’s quest in helping Cory find the answers keeps the movie interesting beyond just focusing on one message.  Faith Ford gives a great performance as Tyler and Lucy’s mother (and school guidance counselor).

I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of P&G and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
