Giveaways and Reviews

How to Win Blog Giveaways

In the past few months I’ve seen a surge of new readers here (Hello, grab a coffee and stay awhile!) so I thought it was a good time to touch base and offer my new readers some tips on entering blog giveaways here and elsewhere!

Check out this post on my site titled “What do all these bonus entries mean?” for a great summary of other ways you can enter to win.  While most people utilize the bonus entries available, there are a lot of times I see people who use just the original entry and that’s it, so their chances of winning are slim compared to those who have 5 entries at the same time (not to mention daily Twitter entries!)

It covers an explanation of each of the bonus entries offered (consider it a content management system for scoring wins!) that you may be missing.  Almost everyone I know uses Facebook, so the bonus entries offered there are easy.  Subscribing via email is really easy to do as well (plus, it lets you know each day about new content so you can be sure you won’t miss a great contest).

I know a lot of people don’t use Twitter yet and I understand that it can be intimidating at first, but like most people once you get the hang of Twitter it becomes fun…and addicting.

I had to use my site search engine (top right hand corner) to find that old post about bonus entries!  Feel free to utilize that to look for old reviews if you’ve been discussing something with a friend and wondered about it – you never know if it’s been featured here!  Some of the older posts have 0 comments (they were lost in my switch from Blogger to WP last year, boo.)

Help me help you!  I’m constantly asked for web site statistics by great brands and companies out there so when you subscribe via email, follow on Facebook, etc., you’re not only helping your chances of winning a giveaway but also helping me bring you more great reviews and giveaways on the site.

As always if you have any questions let me know!  Good luck in the giveaways!

  • thanks i do all of these things and am careful about time zones etc so i dont do my daily tweet in the same day, but alas still no win here lol you are my elusive white whale ha ha, one day i will get one

  • I for one, do not like to make multiple entries! I have had blog people get upset with me because I do not>> Yes, I follow, I tweet, I sign up for interesting emails>> but I enter once most of the time.
I actually do not like to see one clever person enter tons of times>> it looks like cheating.
But it takes all kinds to make up the world and I am not trying to have satistics to get more prizes for my supporters>> I thank you for all the work you do so I can have a chance to learn about new things and have “a” chance to win.

    Bless you

    • Hi Charlotte! You follow on Facebook for example, but don’t put in an extra entry saying “I follow on Facebook”??! Really? I wish you would (I’m so glad you follow there too but you deserve the extra entry for following, you should do it!)

  • Thanks for the update on entering. Always nice to know that I am doing all the right things.
Nice to know that I am helping by following on all other places and helping you get sponsors. Kind of like helping each other.
    Hugs.

    • Exactly Doreen – win, win! It goes in cycles – what PR/companies are looking for in terms of a following. Some may be particularly interested in how many Facebook followers you have – with others it’s all about email subscribers. Hugs back!

  • Hi Tenille,

I love your giveaway’s and have been a reader for more than 2 years. I don’t get the above comment about only entering once, why bother entering at all? It takes perseverance to win and it is not like cheating to see someone win all the time, just because they press on. You quadruple your chances by entering in a savvy manner and taking advantage of those extra entries. Sometimes I only do a few entries and then daily tweet, and if I really want it I will do them all. It pays off. =)
I just posted about social media pet peeves and I will say your site is one that I have always loved, it is clean, easy to navigate and very user friendly. I am a blogger who also enters lots of contests and I visit lots of sites. Yours is at the top of my list!! Here is a link to my post about social media if you are interested: http://www.themommytimes.net/2011/05/calling-all-blogs-tweeps-and-facebook.html (I’ll warn you I am ranting, BUT I think you might agree, as well)

Keep up the great work! Love your site!!

    • Hi Karen! Thanks for your kind words, I love the feedback (esp when it’s positive, ha!) I just read your post, it was good (and long!) and touched on a lot of things that annoy me too (music being one of them, but my computer is almost always on mute!)

  • Tenille – you’re a rockstar! Thanks for having such an incredible blog. I love that you make the extra entries so easy. I do all except Facebook and I love that I dont have to enter five separate times that I follow by GfC, for example.

    Have a blessed day :).

    • Miranda, the “5 bonus entries for following on…” thing bothers me too, but that’s just me. I hear ya!

  • Thanks for the tips. Your giveaways are easy to enter. I find some bloggers don’t put clear instructions as to what they want us to do. If you have some good blogs that you follow you should tell us about them. I find it hard to look for Canadian blogger but I ran into more and more of them. 🙂

  • Tenille I am always grateful to find your posts in my inbox. I think it is fantastic to have a Canadian blog with a wonderful host. I love winning (who doesn’t?) and you make enteries easy, clear and fun. Thanks for the great opportunities you have given to us.

    • Thanks Sherry, you made my day (and it started crappy, so thanks!) 😛
