Word Whiz by Learning Resources

With a new baby in the house, it’s important that everyone is kept busy and no one is left out.  Having a 3rd has definitely made it harder to give everyone the attention they deserve, and I’ve been thankful that my 6 year old has school during the week to give him a break from the household chaos but also to give him something to do.  Then Easter Break happened – a full 11 days off school – and the whining began on day 2.

Thankfully, I had just received a great shipment of products from Learning Resources to review, and they were the perfect way to stimulate the kids and help them learn at the same time.  Elijah (6) was happy when he discovered that the Easter Bunny (hey, why not?) brought him Learning Resources Word Whiz to play.

A little but like hangman, Word Whiz encourages children to build words and practice word blends.  With 3 skill levels, this is an appropriate toy (I hesitate to call it a toy!) for children in Kindergarten up to grade 1 or 2.  Elijah realized right away that level 3 was best for him (there are 3 levels total) and enjoyed the challenge of trying to figure out the word on the screen.
