We just got home from the hospital today. Thank you for all the messages, posts, emails and good thoughts. You guys are amazing! We’re slowly adjusting to being a family of 5. Luckily, baby Everleigh is a wonderful sleeper and is content to eat and sleep her days away (remembering yes, it’s only day three here). I am so so so so thankful that my husband is taking a 5 month parental leave from work and so looking forward to our family time this spring and summer.
The condensed version of the birth story: 22 hours of labor, 2 failed epidurals, some good times with Demerol, some “what’s the point of this?” time with Fentanyl, all finally ending in a c-section with a spinal epidural so I was awake (after two natural births) and discovering it all happens for a reason when we learned the cord was around her neck…twice.
We are blessed to have baby Everleigh Jolene here safe and sound and part of our family. I’m going to go weep now (hormones!!!)

Welcome to the world baby Everleigh (love the name 🙂 ) So happy to hear that after what sounds like a very busy “D-day” she safely made her arrival! Glad baby was okay csection are a must when the cords around the neck. My bro came out blue because his cord was around his neck! they didnt give my mom a csection pretty bad. Enjoy the family time thats wonderful your husband can take off so much time.
