My Fabulous Life

How was your Easter?

It’s late evening on Easter Sunday and, with the baby beside me in her mamaRoo sleeping, I’m thinking back to Easters past.  The image to the left is of a traditional bread made at Easter called Paska.  My mom makes it, but it reminds me of my grandma who we lost in 2000.

Today I thought about spending Easter at her place when I was little, and how one particular Easter I can clearly remember the Easter Bunny finding me there, because a My Little Pony was left on the front step just for me.

It made me sad that my kids don’t see their grandparents often because those memories are important to have – though all I can do is build the memories for them on our own.

Today we started the day with checking out the Easter Bunny’s gifts of course, then my husband made us all french toast for breakfast.  The rest of the day was spent just being together as a family – the older two kids went to the park with my husband while Everleigh and I caught up on some recorded tv on the PVR.  This morning, Playhouse Disney had a special episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse called “Mickey’s Great Clubhouse Hunt” but I PVR’d it because we were busy having our own hunt.  We watched it after lunch this afternoon as a family.

It’s not a day filled with tradition the way my grandmother did it, but the basic elements are the same.  The Easter Bunny left something to make the kids feel special and family (no matter how big or small) was together.  Maybe in time I will learn to make Paska but if I don’t I hope my own kids will have warm memories like I do of this day simply because it was filled with family love.

I’m part of the Playhouse Disney Mom program and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.
