Chocolate Cheerios Coming in June!

Canadian mamas, have I got news for you!  On June 3rd, look for NEW General Mills Chocolate Cheerios on store shelves here in Canada!  Our US neighbors have been enjoying them already and pretty soon it will be our turn.  Are you ready?!

As part of my affiliation with the Life Made Delicious Blogger program, I was fortunate to receive two boxes of this cereal ahead of time this past week.  I was sitting on the floor when I opened the box, discovered the two Cheerios boxes inside, and immediately opened one and sat there chomping away on the Chocolate Cheerios!  My husband walked over, grabbed his own handful of Cheerios, and we both agreed they are delicious (and decided we weren’t ready to share them with the kids just yet…how bad are we?)

Actually, the be honest I had my reservations about Chocolate Cheerios because we are sugar-police in our household.  Time and time again I read articles in magazines online about how sugar apparently does not make kids hyper and I always mutter under my breath that the authors of the articles should come visit my household after a sugar high with my kids.

After reading more about Chocolate Cheerios I was happy to learn that, compared to other cereals on the shelves, Chocolate Cheerios are actually low in sugar.  With 9 grams of sugar per serving, Chocolate Cheerios come out on top when compared with other cereals in my pantry – Lucky Charms has 11g and Fruity Hoops (Sobey’s version of Fruit Loops) has 16g!  Even Frosted Flakes has 12g of sugar per serving so in comparison Chocolate Cheerios are coming out ahead!

Are you eager to try Chocolate Cheerios in June?  How about trying them for free?  On May 1st, Canadian consumers will be able to get a limited time coupon to try Chocolate Cheerios for free from WebSaver.ca  THEN, on one day only, June 21st, you will be able to redeem your coupon in stores.

Will you be able to wait that long to try them out though, if they are available on store shelves June 3rd?  I’m guessing many people will have already tried them by then and will be redeeming their coupon to add more to their pantry!

Disclosure: I am part of the Life Made Delicious Blogger program and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.
