T-fal Reversible Raclette

Have you been to a Raclette party?  Do you know what that is?  Up until a few months ago I had no idea what a Raclette party is, and here I am all excited to have one in the new year.

So here’s the basics as I’ve learned – a Raclette party is sort of like a Fondu party in that the party centers around the item used to cook your food.  Raclette is actually a type of cheese from Switzerland and it’s one of the cheeses that can be used ON a raceltte when having a raclette party.  The grill itself (the top part) is used to cook various meats and vegetables, and then the little plates underneath the raclette are used to warm up delicious cheese to serve with the grilled items.  Is your stomach growling yet?

Sites like Raclette.com.au even have Raclette Party Tips which can be a great help when planning a raclette party for the first time.  One suggestion I read was to ask guests to bring their favorite meat and the host can then supply the veggies and cheese which can help cut costs.  Like a fondu party, a raclette party is a social occasion – no large meal all at once but rather a night of appetizer style eating and lots of visiting (and perhaps lots of wine).

Here’s where T-fal’s genius comes in.  Having never tried a raclette grill before, people may be hesitant to purchase one if they’re not sure it will be used often (how many appliances do you have in your pantry?)  The Reversible Raclette from T-fal retails for $99.99  in stores but the brilliance here is that it doubles as a griddle/grill for cozy weekend mornings at home with the family too!  I love this!  Now, we have a new grill for the weekend (which we needed) and a Raclette for when mom has the girls over.

Canadians can find the T-fal Reversible Raclette at The Bay, Home Outfitters, Linen Chest, Personal Edge and Canadian Tire this holiday season.  If you’re interested, bookmark this page for your husband as a subtle hint, and hopefully the raclette will end up under your tree this Christmas!  Or buy it for your mom or sister and wait for the raclette party invitation in return. 😉
