KQC X-Heat Flat Iron

The KQC X-Heat Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron, available in Canada through Flat Iron Experts, is rated one of the top flat irons on the market so of course I had to get my hands on it to try it out.  I can’t believe that just 2 short years ago I was using a $30 flat iron purchased at the local drug store, and wondering why my hair looked like crap and never looked like it did at the salon.  Now I know.  It’s all in the equipment and products you use and no, a $30 flat iron simply can not keep up.

Here are some terms used to describe flat irons and what you should know about them, taken from Flat Iron Experts:

Tourmaline / Ceramic Technology: KQC X-Heat Tourmaline Ceramic Hair Straightener’s distributes heat across the entire surface evenly, retains heat more efficiently, and eliminates damaging hot spots. Ceramic emits a natural source of negative ions and far infrared heat that helps your hair:
1. Preserve more moisture within the hair shaft
2. Eliminates frizz and close the cuticle to create smooth and shiny hair
3. Causes less damage to the hair cuticle during styling

Negative Ion Technology: Negative ions are atoms that can stop the growth of bacteria, fungi, etc., resulting in healthier hair and scalp. Negative ion energy is powerful enough to break apart clusters of water molecules. The smaller water molecules penetrate into the hair shaft by slipping between the cuticles, adding plumpness/volume to hair. The bombardment of negative ions also closes the hair cuticle, which is very good for the health and appearance of the hair.

Far Infrared Heat : Far Infrared (FIR) rays are electro-magnetic waves of energy, totally invisible to the naked eye, capable of penetrating deep into the human body, including the hair shaft. It therefore dries the hair from the inside out. The result is that more moisture remains in the hair shaft and there is less damage to the hair.

The KQC X-Heat Flat Iron encompasses all these features making it one of the best bets on the market for smooth shiny hair.  I tried it out for the first time a few weeks ago and here’s a before and after comparison:

I’m fortunate that I have straight hair to begin with, but as you know I’m also undecided on hair-color so my hair has seen better days.  It’s important to make sure you’re  using products that help protect your hair while you style it (a cheap flat iron is going to fry your hair, period.)

I liked that this flat iron has variable heat settings (104 to 410 F), though for best results the hotter the better I’ve learned.  It heats up quickly and was light and easy to run through my hair.

Flat Iron Experts is a one-stop shop for all hair care products.  Of course flat irons are the focus but they also carry an impressive selection of hair dryers, curling irons, hot rollers, shampoo/conditioner and tons more.  For US shoppers, note that all prices are in CDN dollars so you get a break there (woohoo!)  Shipping is free on all purchases over $75 and customers can click here for shipping info for purchases below that amount.
