One would think that by the third pregnancy you’ve got it easy in terms of what you need to buy.  Unfortunately, the person that thinks that is clearly not a woman.

We all know that pregnancy is a miraculous time when our bodies change and we slip into maternity clothes for about 6 months and hope…really really hope…that we don’t look like a teletubby during that time.

Even if you stock up (read: spend too much) on maternity clothes with pregnancy number 1, I can guarantee you that by the next pregnancy you’re going to look at some of those items and go “ugh, did I seriously wear that?”

Don’t believe me?  Check out the overalls I wore during my first pregnancy in 2004.

Now, just because I have banished overalls since then doesn’t mean someone else wouldn’t love them.  That’s here consignment stores come into play.

The problem with consignment stores, I’ve learned, is that they’re only as successful as their market is big.  In a smaller city, you’re not going to have the same reach you would online.  And so, eMommie.com was born.

Owned and operated by 2 sisters in Richmond, Virginia, eMommie.com purchases maternity clothes from you (more info can be found here) and also offers up great deals for pregnant women across the US.  This is a great way to pass along your (let’s be honest, barely used) maternity clothes and recoup some cash, and also a great place to shop for something new to add to your wardrobe without feeling guilty about spending too much.

These are just a quick selection of some of my favorites I found at eMommie.com while searching just now.  If you see something you like, you need to move fast because of course, there’s only one of each waiting to be purchased.  All shipping information is available on the site.

Moms-to-be can get a great deal on an “almost-new” item by shopping frugal – most maternity clothing items are only worn for 5-6 months with many items being worn less than that.  I’ve been known to pick up a shirt or new pants in my 7th month because I was tired of my wardrobe or couldn’t fit into a certain pair of pants comfortably anymore so the quality of maternity clothing purchased second-hand is usually really great!

eMommie.com is a great shopping resource for YOU this holiday season.  If you’d like to find something perfect for the holidays to cover that growing belly but don’t want to dip into the gift-fund, check out the deals at eMommie.com  I found a great white short sleeve sweater (Old Navy) there for just under $20 and I love it (thanks eMommie!)

eMommie.com is offering one of my US readers a $25 Gift Certificate to shop at their store!  To enter, just take a quick peek at what they have in stock right now and leave me a comment here telling me what you would spend it on.
