My Fabulous Life

Crashing Back to Reality

As I sit here with my feet up on my coffee table (a faux pas in my house growing up  but totally acceptable here!), sipping my coffee and looking at the work ahead of me today, I had to take a moment to share something that happened this morning.

Nevaeh and I were doing a quick run to pick up a few fall items for decorating the house and a decoration for the front door (I woke up this morning and decided this was what was needed today, I have no idea why).  I had my XM radio station on the 90’s channel and an old song, circa 1993 came on.  Canadians will be familiar, US readers maybe not.  It was Snow’s “Informer”, a song I still don’t know all the words to but sing loud nonetheless.

I was taken back to my 16 year old self, driving around with my friends listening to what was clearly the coolest song in the universe (lol) and lost myself in thoughts of my (much) younger, carefree days.  It didn’t last long because from the backseat Nevaeh triumphantly figured out the words to the song in the part I could never figure out.  In her estimation, she decided it was “You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around!”  Hey, Snow, I’m onto you now.

Brought back to reality, I burst into laughter and told Nevaeh she was a great singer.
