I stumbled upon Think Geek a few months ago in search of any Super Mario Brothers products for my son. In Canada, anything related to Super Mario Brothers has been really hard to find – I’m not sure why. The games, yes? Beyond that? Not so much. I’ve lucked out in the past year at Target online (ordering to a friend’ s PO box in the US since they won’t ship to Canada, ugh) and just recently saw some tshirts in stores. However, I have not found anything nearly as cool as these Super Mario Brothers wall stickers!
Think Geek actually has 3 different sets of Nintendo Wall Graphics that would all be perfect for Elijah – Super Mario Brothers ($69.99), Donkey Kong ($49.99) and New Super Mario Brothers ($69.99).
While Elijah is of course part of a new generation of Nintendo fans and more familiar with the New Super Mario Brothers, I thought the retro (is it really? ouch?) Super Mario Brothers Wall Graphics looked the best.
The Super Mario Brothers Wall Graphics set comes shipped in a box to avoid any damage to the sheets.
Inside you will find 3 huge sheets of stickers, measuring 26″ x 40″. There are two scenes detailed on a sheet inside to inspire you on how to create the perfect mural. The scenes were a great starting point – you have this huge wall as your canvas and just don’t know where to start so this helped tremendously!
Once my husband and I started creating the scene, it all came together….and then stretched much further than the original area (where Mario is) that I thought it would cover. I really didn’t expect the wall graphics to be so big!
I wondered if the stickers wouldn’t stick well, or would bubble or just be anything but awesome but they didn’t disappoint! They came off the sheet easily, didn’t stick together, and we achieved a completely smooth finish by using a flat plastic tool that we had from other wall graphics we’ve put up in the past (the set does not come with this piece, but the edge of a credit card will do the trick for smoothing out the wall graphics.)
When I posted the above photos on my personal Facebook page, I knew they would be a hit. Elijah isn’t the only one among his friends that’s Mario obsessed, and parents will like the old school Mario images as well. I was fortunate enough to be sent this item to review, but honestly, this frugal mom would pay $69.99 for this after seeing how awesome it looks on our walls (it’s savings here and there as a rule that enable you to splurge when you need to, that’s my philosophy!) Think Geek ships to Canada too (yay!)
I found a discount code that’s valid until June 30th – use code PORKBOARD at checkout and save $10 off your order of $40 or more. Check out the story behind the code here (Unicorn Meat, mmmmm!)
Think Geek has offered a $50 Gift Certificate to one of my readers. Use it to put towards your own Super Mario Brothers Wall Graphics purchase or choose from the hundreds of other unique items this site has to offer (I’m debating Donkey Kong for the kid’s toy room this fall….)
