So this past week I unpacked my candle boxes. Yes, plural. I had two huge boxes of candles with this move – the movers even chuckled as they packed them up. Apparently I have a bit of an obsession. I burn candles more during the fall and winter months – there’s something about watching the snow fall and burning candles for ambience while staying toasty warm indoors. With two kids running around, I save my candle time for the evenings once they are in bed, so I’ve decided to purge some of my candle collection. It definitely gave me a way to see the crap candles I have (full of nasty chemicals) and appreciate the high quality candles (like Illumenature).
Featuring hand-poured 100% soy wax candles in decorative jars, Illumenature candles look as good as they smell. I was sent candles in Banana Bread (their best selling candle), Cherry Tangerine, and Mango & Papaya. The lids keep my new candles dust-free, and also make them perfect for keeping on a coffee table when not on use. The lid keeps prying little hands away from the wick when not in use.
Of course the question is, how do they smell? My favorite is the Mango & Papaya! Sweet and fresh, this candle won’t overpower you in a room but rather act as a light scent throughout. I keep this one in our main bathroom for the rare chance I get to actually have a bubble bath! The others were of course nice too – Cherry Papaya is more papaya than cherry (and I love cherry so I wanted more) and Banana Bread is perfect for the kitchen (my 5 year old thought it smelled yummy).
