Mom Central Canada and Huggies Pull Ups have teamed up for a Potty Dance Blog Tour, and I was asked to be a part (yay!) Have you seen the Potty Dance commercials on tv? Try as I may, there’s no way I can’t watch them because my 2 year old daughter is absolutely enamored with these commercials! The song gets stuck in your head though…just warning you. 😉
Check out eTalk’s Traci Melchor doing the Potty Dance here (boy am I glad part of the campaign did not involve blogging mama’s doing their own potty dance for readers!)
I can joke about the joys of potty training because, as a second time mother, I’ve been there, done that. I didn’t laugh at the time (in fact I’m sure I cried out of frustration at some point) but I now know that your child WILL potty train when he or she is ready regardless of when you think that point should be. That’s not to say that as parents we should just sit back and wait for it to happen – it’s our job to encourage our children to try the potty, but definitely as a low-pressure tactic.
My daughter is not interested in potty training at this point (she’s, let me think here…29 months). She pretty much refuses to even sit on it except for once a day before her bath. I’ve tried princess sticker rewards (“I don’t like stickers mama”), a princess tiara that can only be worn on the potty (she screamed bloody murder when I refused to let her wear it otherwise and now says she doesn’t like princess crowns either…sigh.)
Since she loves the Huggies Pull Ups Potty Dance, this blog tour was perfect for us. We were sent everything we needed to host a Huggies Dance Party in our home and we ended up hosting several – basically whenever we had a little tyke over to play I gave the mommy a copy of the Huggies Potty Dance dvd and Nevaeh had to show off. Very cute indeed. Will it help with potty training success? That remains to be seen, but at this point it certainly can’t hurt to have the encouragement (even if the song gets stuck in my head….arrrgggh!)
