Sounds compelling, doesn’t it? This is the first time I have had the opportunity to read a Nicholas Sparks book before seeing the movie. Typically the books are always better then the big screen versions (I think because we each have our own ideas of the characters, their prose, their mannerisms). Nicholas Sparks did things a little backwards with this novel – he actually wrote The Last Song as a screenplay first, specifically for Miley Cyrus to play the lead in. The screenplay, which was filmed in the summer of 2009, then became the novel. After reading The Last Song, and closing the book with a sigh I have no doubt that the movie will be a huge success not only because of Miley’s name added to the press for it but because the story will make an impact on those who see it on the screen.
