I have to say, I was a girly girl and did not own any action figures as a child. My mom didn’t get the pleasure of stepping on one in the early morning (it’s a right of passage, no? That and Lego impaled into the bottom of parent’s feet). Now I have completed that right of passage as a mom as I have stepped on a sports action figure sent to us from Kaskey Kids. Good thing my son happens to really like his Hockey Guys!
When given the chance to review any set from Kaskey Kids we, being Canadian, of course had to pick the Hockey Guys (I’d feel like a traitor otherwise, it’s in our blood people!) The Hockey Guys set comes complete with:
- 14 2 1/2″ players
- 1 referee
- 2 goals
- 1″ puck
- 10 rink wall pieces that slide together to form the rink
- 26″ x 18″ shiny, slick plastic mat that resembles “ice”
- 10″ x 6″ x 5″ stackable container with attached lid and handle
The rink wall pieces are easy to piece together, and once the plastic mat is down you have yourself an ice surface ready for the game. The mat itself is folded in the box so it is a bit bumpy when you first use it. This can be fixed by rolling up the mat to store (even securing it under the handle of the box as the site suggests) so that the folded creases can work themselves out. My 5 year old didn’t seem to mind it too much.
I appreciate having a container to store everything in when not in use – it helps to avoid stepping on the Hockey Guys but I can’t guarantee it won’t happen to you too!
We enjoyed checking out this set, and I know the Hockey Guys will get more ice time this winter when watching games with dad on tv. Once playoff season starts, it’s going to be hockey central here!
Of course, there are other Sports Guys available including Soccer Guys, Soccer Girls, Football Guys, and College Football (10 teams to choose from) and Baseball Guys. Also worth noting, all Kaskey Kids toys have passed extensive toy safety tests for lead, phthalates, and other toxic elements. I shudder to think about what was in the sports and action figures we played with as children!
