These are just a few of the memorable quotes from Walt Disney Studios The Tigger Movie, which is the best selling preschool DVD of all time (Source: Nielsen, 12/08). Released in 2000, children and adults alike were singing Tigger’s rhyme (all together now…) “The wonderful thing about tiggers, is tiggers are wonderful things!”
To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the release, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is releasing a new 2-Disc Anniversary Edition (street date August 4th, 2009) which also includes a digital copy of the movie (DisneyFile digital copy for Windows or iTunes formats). The Tigger Movie follows our favorite bouncing tigger as he sets on a journey to find more tiggers like himself. While on his musical adventure, what Tigger learns is that families come in all kinds of shapes and sizes and just because you don’t look like others, you still belong. Tigger realizes that his best friends in the Hundred Acre Woods ARE his family.
We loved watching this adventure with the kids (in 2000 when it was originally released we weren’t even married yet, and kids were still a few years off). My toddler and 5 year old both of course loved Tigger’s silliness, although I hold a soft spot for little Roo myself (it was the nickname we gave to our oldest when he was still in my belly!) I made a point of discussing the movie while we watched it, and my 5 year old was able to understand why Tigger was looking for other tiggers and the lesson at the end. What a treasure to have in our DVD collection!
