In the past few months I have been introduced to soy candles and have now made the switch to soy! I have seen (and smelled!) for myself the difference between soy and regular paraffin wax candles.
In my own home, with two children, I’d much rather burn natural soy wax than a chemical filled cheap candle with limited scent output. To me, it’s a no brainer now. I will only buy soy wax candles now that I know the quality is there as well (I admit, I’d be hesitant if soy wax didn’t smell as great as it does, the scent permeates even better than paraffin which is a huge bonus!)
Simply Pure Soy Candles & More is a huge website filled with not only soy candles (in several different varieties including jar candles, votives, and tealights) but also bath and beauty products like soaps, scrubs, lotions and more.
I was sent an 8oz candle from the Country Jar Collection in my choice of scent – I had to pick Cotton Candy as this is my new favorite fragrance to burn (it may go by other names on other sites). WOW. Just as I had expected from a soy candle, the scent is just remarkable when opening the lid of the jar. Mouth-watering would be the best word I can come up with!
At $8.00 US, this candle gives you 50-55 hours of burn time. Soy candles burn right to the bottom too. I haven’t actually tested this because the candles last so long – I haven’t made it to the bottom on any of my candles yet!
I also got to try the Kids Soaps – my son thought the dragonfly and ladybug designs on the soap were cool, and anything that occupies him longer in the bath is a good thing (the more time spent in the bath tub the more dirt that can come off a little boy!)
One item that I would have liked to try is the Soy Lotion! They contain no mineral oil (which we all know is not good for any of us!), no lanolin, and no SD-alcohol. If I purchased one, I would pick the Citrus Splash for sure.
