Giveaways and Reviews

Layers Clothing (closed)

I discovered Layers Clothing right here on some other great mommy blogs. I remember reading a review of Layers Clothing for the first time and seeing a gift certificate offered as a giveaway. My first thought was, “What will that cover, a scarf?” because more often than not, online sites dedicated to clothing for adults are notoriously expensive. Boy was I surprised when I saw the prices at Layers Clothing – Cami’s are $15 and Shirts are between $20-$32!

New to Layers Clothing this season, Swimwear! I was excited to be one of the first people to review the Swimwear collection from Layers Clothing, but admittedly I was nervous. I have had such a hard time in the past purchasing swimwear in stores and this past summer I settled for my old swimsuit because I could not find a swimsuit that worked well with my body.

I’m a mom, but I still want to look good in a swimsuit! It seems like moms are left with two options in stores – either a tent that covers us entirely and looks like something our grandmothers wore, or swimwear so skimpy that it’s downright dangerous to wear near a baby that may pull at it. The Swimwear from Layers Clothing can be purchased separately which is great because you can choose different sizes in tops/bottoms if need be. The suit that I was sent, Ginny, was perfect in design…but would it be perfect to wear too?

I am so thrilled to report that this swimsuit fits perfectly and is so flattering! It’s a two-piece but it doesn’t look like one – the tankini top is long but the other bonus is that the bottom actually can fold down so you can make the ensemble look more like a two-piece if you prefer.

The tankini-style top ties behind the neck and at the back which is a real plus. Because it ties behind the back, where a bra strap would do up, you can tighten it as much as you like for optimal support which I really liked. As you can see from the pictures of the model who looks so much better than me in it (ha!) the chest area is nicely covered but still very flattering – there’s no concern about the girls making an unwanted appearance at the public swimming pool! I was a little leery about having a tie-up top but as long as I tie it in a knot I feel secure.

The Ginny top is $42 and the bottom is $26 making this a great deal at $68 for a swimsuit that actually fits and is flattering! I am so glad I don’t have to waste another afternoon trying on swimsuits, when Layers got it right the first time. Definitely check them out!
