One of the true signs of Spring to me is seeing those first few garage sales pop up as I’m driving in town. I love garage sales and have my mom to credit with that. I remember going out with her on a Saturday morning and finding treasures (Archie comics is one treasure I remember hunting for). Back then she would take the newspaper and we’d plot out our course for the morning. This is back when Garage Sales were only on Saturdays – now it seems like they run for 3 days on average!
These days, I’ve noticed that many garage sales are advertised online through online classifieds and if your local newspaper allows it, you can look up some garage sales through their online editions. Last weekend, I was in my hometown and tried to look them up online with no luck – the local newspaper kept that little gem hidden in their print edition.
The irony of it all is that when people are having a garage sale, the point is to make money and sometimes a newspaper ad just does not make sense, being $30 or more. So what’s a family to do, when they want to have a successful garage sale? Where do people look to find the most garage sales in their area?
