Umi builds real childrens shoes – made to look like children’s shoes and not to imitate grown up shoes. You won’t find any leather slipper shoes at Umi either. Umi sent us the TREK shoe for boys to review. I picked the olive/grey/orange colors because they would match best with all my son’s khaki colored shorts and shirts this summer (he may not care much about matching, but his mom does!)
The quality is evident just holding these shoes for the first time. They are not a light/cheap material. You can smell the leather and feel the sturdy design that leather provides. Other great features about this shoe include the fact that they’re waterproof (!!), the front covering over the toes (which helps protect little toes on the playground or when running) and the adjustable strap at the back of the ankle which helps ensure a perfect fit. This is actually a frugal feature for me, since it means my son can grow into this shoe a bit – I can secure the fit tighter around his ankle while he grows into the shoe.
