Tee Knees

When I heard about Tee-Knees, out of British Columbia Canada, I pouted that I had just missed getting use out of such a great idea. Most of our house is carpet but when my daughter would crawl in our kitchen or in the bedrooms, I’d cringe at the thought of her little knees on the hard surface. I can’t imagine how it feels to crawl on all hardwood or laminate surfaces all the time. The creator of Tee-Knees, Joy, felt the same way and was surprised there were no products on the market already for the purpose of protecting little one’s knees from hard surfaces. So, being a super mama, she set out to create a product that would work.

The result, after research, trial and error and focus group testing, is Tee-Knees!

They look like knee pads worn by athletes, and really little ones are such little athletes when learning to crawl and walk that the look kind of suits them! Made with soft and pliable Neoprene pads and spandex leg bands, Tee-Knees are great for crawlers and early walkers.

Since my little one is running and climbing at this point, I wanted to test out Tee-Knees with someone who had a crawling baby, so I asked a relative of mine for help. Fellow diva-mom of Melodie (and another on the way), Jolynn , was able to help test Tee-Knees for Feisty Frugal and Fabulous. This is what she had to say:

I love, love, love the idea of this product and that was why I jumped at the chance to participate. Every time I see Melodie’s knees red and dry I thought about some invention for her so she didn’t have to go through that!I loved that they aren’t bulky- she didn’t look like a rollerblader or something. The pads are soft and not too thick so they didn’t get in her way while she was trying to move. They do fit under looser clothing so she did wear them a couple days under pants to see how that worked.

The problem I found is that they just don’t always stay on! I had a size large which is for 21 lbs and up but I think a size small would have been better, so I’d recommend going a size down to ensure they stay on. Being nearly 1 she is an advanced crawler so this may be ideal for a crawler who isn’t set to cruise. There may be some kids out there with a bit more meat on their legs that might not find this an issue at all.

There are also some testimonials on the Tee-Knees site that can be found here.

Tee-Knees sent me 3 extra sets to give away to my Canadian readers (I’m shipping these out myself, so I have to keep it Canada-only, sorry).

To enter go to Tee-Knees and tell me which color and size you’d love to have and who they would be for! (I’ll try and match up the wins the best I can but no guarantees)
