Clippopotamus (closed)

Cute clips. Fierce bite. With a tagline like that, how could I not check out Clippopotamus to see what all the fuss was about? Actually, truth be told, a friend of mine is a fan of Clippopotamus and brought them to my attenion. Are all hair-clip sites the same? No, not at all. They vary widely in quality, design, and ingenuity. Clippopotamus is a company that excels in all three.

The item I was the most interested in checking out was the Teeny Ones snap clips. Though Nevaeh has a good amount of hair now, I’ve found that the bigger clips still look huge on her little noggin’ and was happy to see how tiny these clips are. Obviously, when they are similar in size to a quarter, attention must be paid to those who like to still shove things in their mouths but if your child is old enough to resist this temptation these are an adorable accessory to have.

The Teeny Ones clips are sold as a pair for $5.00. I liked that they are purchased as a pair as some other sites sell clips as singles for the same price.

Oh, and if you didn’t already notice, that’s a shiny Canadian quarter in the picture! Clippopotamus is a proud Canadian company based in Ontario. That means their prices are all in CDN dollars (good for Canadians, great for Americans).

We also got to try the Little Ones clips which are Clippopotamus’ original product. Again, I liked the smaller size of these clips. They’re super easy to put in a child’s hair (especially a wiggling squirming whining child, as the case may be). Something I noticed about this clip is that the ribbon covers the entire clip, even around the part that you squeeze between your fingers to open the clip – every other clip I have in this style from other companies does not have fabric around the entire clip. I like this feature, as it rounds-out the clip and makes it look line one smooth line rather than the edges sticking out.

I have to admit I swiped one of my daughter’s Clippopotamus sets – the Little Ones With Bows are so cute, and work well for clipping back my short hair when playing with the kids and doing something where my hair falling in my face drives me crazy (lego, coloring, you get the picture).

I am so impressed with the quality from Clippopotamus, and believe me when I say I’ve seen the whole range of quality in my reviews of bows, clips, and hair accessories for little girls. I’ve seen clips where only half of the entire clip was covered with material (leaving sharp edges sticking out) or hair accessories where the seam of a band was completely exposed, or glue gooped on the material. It takes attention to detail and pride in ones work to make a product like the kind Clippopotamus does.
