Very early on after my daughter was born, I learned a very exciting thing. There is no need to wait until your daughter is a preschooler sporting a full head of hair to accessorize with adorable hair bows and clips. Now, thanks to some super creative designers out there, all you need is the smallest little tuft of super fine baby hair to be able to clip this new style of clips onto. I should know, looking back at my daughter’s pictures over her first year I’m surprised by how bald she really was! Here I thought she had a decent amount of hair but no….she really had very little hair on her noggin’. I was still able to add bows and clips to her hair!
There are many bow-makers out there. Many clips have been designed and many moms have been selective with their choices and realized that some are indeed better than the rest. Even in the past month I’ve tossed a few clips (sorry recycling mamas, I did throw them in the garbage) because they were useless to me. We were able to try out a selection of clips from Sugar and Spice Bows, and I’m glad I made room for them because these are keepers.
Based here in Canada, Sugar and Spice Bows are home to The Grippy Clippy. As described on the site: Our no slip hair clips are made using a 1 3/4″ alligator clip and then partially covered in high quality 3/8″ ribbon. To make the clips really grip, we line the clip with a soft gripper strip.
Along with The Grippy Clippy, we also tried the Grippy Clippy Mini, which is a 1 1/4″ mini alligator clip.
I thought the Mini was just adorable and couldn’t wait to try it on my daughter. Even though the regular size clips work well, I love how dainty the Grippy Clippy Mini looks in her hair and am going to check out what other colors are available.
Speaking of colors, Sugar and Spice Bows is really on target here.
Featuring not only popular patterns, color combinations and designs, Sugar and Spice Bows also takes the time to find out what colors are popular for each season and features special clips. Notice the amount of teal in children’s stores this Spring? Sugar and Spice Bows features this teal set just for that reason.
If you are a Gymboree customer, Sugar and Spice Bows has you covered. There’s a section right on the site devoted to matching current Gymboree styles with Sugar and Spice Bows (personally, I wish they would do this for The Children’s Place as well since I shop there a lot…it may be in the works!).
Another item I love is the Sugar and Spice Bows Hair Clip Holder!
Currently, we keep all our bows in a jewelry box but they’re so pretty they deserve to be displayed.
This is a great way to display your bows, making them easy to match with outfits and of course decorating a bedroom while you’re at it.
Shipping from this company is great, at a flat rate of $3.00 anywhere in North America!
Browsing the site and making a selection can take you forever, so if you are ready to check it out I suggest having some free time to do so. Sugar and Spice Bows is offering readers 10% off their order, just use the code family upon checkout.
You can also hold an Online Bow Party through Sugar and Spice Bows! Basically you’d sign up for the party, email family and friends a special code to enter when they make a purchase (they would receive a discount for using the code as well) and then at the end of it you could get 10% of the total in free products plus some extra goodies! If you have a little girl, definitely look into the possibility of this!
And, of course, Sugar and Spice bows would like to participate in all the fun at Feisty Frugal and Fabulous by offering readers the chance to enter to win a $25 gift certificate!
To enter, just go to Sugar and Spice Bows and browse around the site. Comment here telling me one item that you love!

Do you know if there is anywhere to buy these clips now? I desperately need something to clip my 7-month-old daughter’s hair off her face for summer, we’re not ready for the first haircut yet 😉
