Mimi & Lola ~ Review & Giveaway (closed)

Lately Nevaeh has been testing out her independence with a spoon during meals. She’s 15 months old and I consider myself pretty lucky that up until now she hasn’t fought me when I’ve fed her cereal or soup; I know some of my mommy friends have given up the battle of the spoon long ago. Nevaeh is neither here nor there with it, she likes being a princess I suppose and sits back to enjoy her spoon fed meal. Anyway, I know this is coming to an end and I know it has to, but remember I’m the mom who breaks out in a sweat when my son finger paints. Dealing with a messy meal and a spoon that tips juuuuuust before it makes it to her mouth is hard on me!

Mimi and Lola, a Canadian based company and mother-daughter team, features personalized blankets, pillows, oh…and soak proof bibs!! If I’m going to deal with a half bowl of soup not making it into my daughter’s mouth, at least I can take steps to ensure it doesn’t soak into her clothes! While I have other commercial soak proof bibs, they also happen to be pretty ugly. You know the ones I’m talking about, the bibs that are somewhat cute on the front but the back features a lovely white plastic, making the entire bib scrunchy and stiff.

The soak proof bibs from Mimi and Lola have a waterproof barrier lining sandwiched in between a layer of fashionable fabric on either side. The result is a bib that looks chic and trendy and also is waterproof without the big white plastic tarp, I mean backing, on the other side.

My choice of favorite bib is the Mod Squad design. We were sent one to review! I liked the blend of the green, brown, blue and white because it can be used for a boy or girl. The bib feels softer than I expected – I think because I’m just used to that scrunchy waterproof lining on other bibs. It’s also bigger than I thought, and covers Nevaeh from neck to waist which is super.

Bibs on the site are $10 USD each or 3 for $25 (you just have to convo Mimi and Lola asking for a custom listing of the 3 you like). Shipping is just $2 within Canada and $3 to the US. I think a set of 3 bibs like this would make an excellent baby shower gift – much better than a plastic pack of bibs from the local department store (have you received the plastic pack of bibs as a gift, yeah…me too).

I also have to make a note of Mimi and Lola’s adorable personalized baby blankets. They can be used for tummy time, travelling in the car or stroller, or even as a wall hanging in the nursery.

I like the color combo of blue and brown almost as much as my pink and brown addiction, and this blanket jumped out at me as a clear favorite! Again, this would be the most talked about gift at a baby shower for sure, seems like there’s always a lot of baby showers in the Spring doesn’t it?

Mimi & Lola would like to offer 3 of my readers a soak proof bib of their choice from their Etsy store!

To enter, just pop on over to Mimi and Lola on Etsy, and take a look around. Comment here with what your choice of bib design would be if you won!
