I am working towards being a Domestic Diva. I think I have achieved the status of being a Domestic Goddess because, well, I have two kids, am a stay at home mom, and somehow manage to keep my sanity. The Domestic Diva status is more of a challenge to obtain. For this title, I think you need to be a pretty decent cook (which I am), have some pretty fancy skills to run a household (check), and create masterpieces with baking to rival anyone up for the challenge (me, not so much). I’m learning to bake, but it’s taking some practice.
I figure if I can’t do the task effortlessly (was that the smoke detector?) I can at least look really good doing it. This brings us to Domistyle, a Canadian company created by two 20-somethings specializing in fresh & funky aprons for women and children (and coming soon, for men too!) I have to admit, Domistyle is the first apron I have worn! I have a friend who is a bit apron-obsessed and has several favorites for all occasions. I can see how easily this can happen to a person! I was given the Dijon Poppies design (which happens to be on sale, by the way) with “Will Cook for Shoes” embroidered on the front.
I liked the adjustable collar, and the weight of the material itself. This isn’t a flimsy cotton apron but rather a lightweight poly/cotton twill blend that, when worn, form fits to your body rather than hanging like a sack. All the images on the aprons are hand-drawn and then silk screened onto the material. This isn’t your mother’s apron!! These beauties are trendy, stylish, and a great conversation piece!
There’s still time to get a Domistyle creation under your tree this Christmas! My husband pretty much needs me to hold his hand when suggesting gifts, so I just email him links to sites that interest me. What is it about a chick in an apron that makes men drool? The cooking or the woman doing it?
