Kick Off to Christmas Giveaway 23 – happygreenbee

Did you know that while cotton occupies 3% of the world’s farmland, it uses 25% of the world’s chemical pesticides? That’s a pretty sobering thought! In the past few years, parents have had had many rude awakenings when it comes to the items our children use. Everything from toys, to bottles, to bath products, to clothing has come under scrutiny. We’ve learned that we can’t wait for the government or administrators to tell us what is safe because by the time we’re told, we’ve already had these items in our homes and in the lives of our precious children.

happygreenbee is an all organic clothing line for kids, created by one of the two founders of Burt’s Bees (which I know you’ve heard about before). Roxanne Quimby, after selling the company in 2003, realized there was a void in children’s clothing. She worked to create happygreenbee with a simple philosophy – clothing that is comfortable, colorful, playful, and ecologically responsible.

It doesn’t hurt that the clothing designs are absolutely awwwwwww-inspiring! The babies and children on the happygreenbee site sell the product well; I was left smiling and thinking that happygreenbee definitely makes happy green (environmentally that is) babies!

The cutest item on the site, in my opinion, is the sweet Petal Dress. Moms of girls know how much they love to dance, twirl, and pose, and a dress like this is the perfect way to do it. Made with roomy non-contricting sleeves, an easy-to-pull-over neckline (no squirming or squishing to get into this dress), and comfortable soft rolled edges, this dress is a keeper.

Here is a picture of my little green bee in her adorable Petal Dress! I love that this dress is heavy enough to wear in the cool winter months with leggings or tights but because it’s organic cotton it’s breathable meaning Miss Nevaeh won’t be hot and itchy in it like she would be with fleece.

Sweater-style dresses are very popular for girls this season, and the prices on the happygreenbee site rival those in the stores. The difference is that these dresses are organic cotton (better for you, better for all of us) and happen to be brighter, bolder, and more sassy than anything I’ve seen in stores.

Boys are not left out at happygreenbee, despite the dresses that truly take the cake! With everything from t-shirts to board shorts, there is something for everybaby at happygreenbee.

happygreenbee would love to make your season merry and bright! One very lucky Feisty Frugal and Fabulous reader will win a $50 gift certificate to use at happygreenbee!! To enter, go to happygreenbee and browse around. I dare you to not crack a smile when looking at all the adorable kids on their site! Come back here and comment telling me your favorite item on the site, including color (saying “tshirts are nice” won’t do).
