Happy Feet With SoftMoc

It’s been over twenty years since I slipped my feet into a cozy, warm pair of moccasins. Growing up, my parents owned a business in the city where we actually carried moccasins and so I was a little (a lot!) spoiled having new moccasins and mukluks every season. As I grew older I didn’t wear moccasins at home. Holiday seasons went by and I’d pass SoftMoc in the mall and make a note to add moccasins from SoftMoc to my list, instead of buying them for myself. I’d end up with slippers from a big box store, which isn’t at all the same!

I have rarely taken them off at home since, and remember why I loved my moccasins so much as child. They fit well (consider ordering on the lower size if you’re generally a half size, in my opinion, since they stretch a bit), keep your feet warm but not sweaty, and feel better on feet than a cotton slipper. My kids have been treated to SoftMoc moccasins for the first time as well and – at ages 4, 7, and 11 they’re all so happy with them – yes even my eleven year old son. The Minimuks for my 4 year old are my favorite! Described as not made for snow or ice, I suppose they could be worn outside but we prefer them as an indoor shoe. My son loves his men’s DUSK chestnut suede moccasins (at a boy’s size 6 he can wear a suitable men’s size, which offers more selection). Finally, my oldest daughter’s black suede moccasins remind me of the same ones I used to wear as a kid, and they’re just as loved by her.
