Fabulous Frugal Finds

Canadian Moms – Save With Barbie!

The other night I was checking out a Facebook page with retro toys on it, and it took me way back when I found a picture of this Barbie Dream House from the 80’s!  That was MY Dream House and I spent hours and hours playing with it.  Growing up as an only child (my brothers and sisters were all over a decade older than me) I spent a lot of time by myself and Barbie gave me hours of play time because I could lose myself in her imaginary world.

Along with the Barbie Dream House, I also had this oh-so-80’s Barbie Motor Home that also provided hours of fun for me!

Did any of you have these toys?  I didn’t have a computer, or gaming console but man did I have Barbies!

Now that I have 2 daughters of my own, I hope they too can escape into an imaginary world of play with Barbie.  My 4 year old has started playing with them but is still at the point where dressing and undressing them is the max of her play right now.  On that note, I have to say as a mama in 2012 I’m really happy that Barbie has given children so many professions to choose from when playing.  When I was a kid in the 80’s, all my Barbies resembled Dynasty characters more than Doctors or Astronauts.

Starting this month, Canadian parents will be able to find a ton of great deals on Barbie products as part of the See What Happens When You Save With Barbie campaign through Websaver.ca  Coupons will begin coming out August 7th and they’re printable so you can just print and go (no need to wait for them to arrive in the mail).

I’ll be tweeting and reminding you on Facebook so make sure you’re following @FeistyFrugal on Twitter and keeping up to date on my Facebook Page!

Disclosure: I am participating in a Mom Central Consulting campaign for Barbie and receive compensation for my post. All opinions on this blog, as always, are my own.
