Heart Healthy Recipes From Cheerios!

Cheerios Lemon SquaresI always tell friends that I’m a cook, not a baker, and therefore am always happy to accept any baking they send my way.  Part of my issue is that baking seems to take so many ingredients and it’s typically not things I keep in my pantry.

As a Life Made Delicious Connector, I get updates and news about the latest from General Mills brands and this month I got a heads up about the new Cheerios.ca site and all the great heart-healthy Cheerios recipes on the Life Made Delicious site.

Being a nut-alert family (my 4 year old has a nut allergy), we couldn’t try many of the great Cheerios recipes suggested (a note to General Mills – more nut-free recipes would be awesome!)

However, one recipe that I found and wanted to try was this delicious Lemon Dessert Recipe in the photo!  Using just a few basic kitchen ingredients, I was pleased to discover I actually had everything on hand to make it.  Instead of lemon jello as suggested, I was going to use lime (yum!) but as I went to my Cheerios box to check for the 3 cups of Cheerios needed – the task ended there.

You see, I also have an almost-10-month-old  and you know what that means – Cheerios monster in the house!

Now, I need to put Cheerios on my shopping list so I can attempt to make this recipe.  Though, I do have Apple Cinnamon Cheerios in the pantry (Family Size boxes were on sale at Walmart for $4!) and I could use those to make Apple Cinnamon Pancakes!

Not just for little ones, Cheerios are a heart-healthy food and can be a part of a low cholesterol diet for mom and dad too!
