Virtually all home organizer experts will tell you that one of the basic steps to organizing is to determine what area in your house is your “leave it all” or clutter area. For many of us it’s the table by the door, the dining room table (me! me!) or the kitchen counter. In fact, when I think about it, the two worst areas for being that leave-all landing spot are my dining room table and the top of my fridge. It doesn’t end there – my bedside table is also my end-of-day leave all spot. It’s a constant battle for us, “Company’s coming, we need to clear off the dining table!”
When I was asked if I’d like to check out the NEW Bento Storage Containers from Rubbermaid, to help me organize those cluttered areas, I was game! It didn’t hurt that I was able to check them out in this beautiful Paprika color to match our decor!
Bento Storage Containers come with internal flex dividers, so these boxes are not just a toss-all place to keep items. Use the dividers inside as little or as much as you like. They also come with optional toppers that can also act as another tray depending on the way you place it on top.
When my husband and I were looking for places perfect for using a Bento Storage Container, our bedroom was a natural spot because the colors matched so well. Then, looking around the room, we could see several places where items were always put down, left to create a pile of clutter. One spot happened to by my bedside table. I recently have amassed a nice collection of Lia Sophia jewelry but kept them in their original boxes, stacked on my bedside table. While it kept the jewelry nice and organized, it created clutter with the boxes piling up, among the other items I’d leave there. We used a medium size Bento Storage Container and lid to hold all my jewelry inside, still in their original boxes. This way, everything is neat and tidy and my jewelry is kept organized. (Yes, those are Lego creations courtesy of my son that he insists stay displayed on my bedside table!)
Other places where Bento Storage Containers (they come in 4 sizes!) have come to our rescue include the built in shelving in our room (the bottom shelf seems to be a catch-all place) and our dining room table. No, the Large Bento Storage Container does not sit on top of the table but it looks fabulous in the corner of my dining room and I can now put items in there instead of leaving them on the dining room table (and it makes a great hiding spot for things when guests show up unexpectedly!)
