T-fal Air Grip Cookware

Oh how times have changed.  Filed under the category of “You know you’re a grown-up when…” is the realization that you’re actually excited to find cookware and other kitchen products under the Christmas tree!  Over the next 7 weeks or so, in the 3rd annual Feisty Frugal & Fabulous Gift Guide, I’ll be bringing you a variety of different products from T-fal that would make fabulous gifts – or may just end up on YOUR wish list after you learn a little more about them here.

Last year for Christmas my mom gave me a new cookware set (by another brand) and bought the same one for herself.  Less than a year later we’re both complaining about them.  The coating is coming off (I make sure not to use metal utensils for this reason but it didn’t matter) and they are so lightweight that if you don’t have enough in the actual pot, it can easily tip over.  Time for a new set!

T-fal has 8 different Non-Stick Cookware sets and they generously sent me their Air Grip Cookware Set for the holidays!  T-fal now makes eco-friendly cookware and the Air Grip Cookware set is one of them.  The Air Grip Cookware Set contains no PFOA (perfluoro-octanoïc acid), no Lead, and no Cadmium (the inhalation of cadmium fumes can result in pneumo-difficulties -this soft metal is used in some coloring processes, metal plating, and the manufacturing of various synthetics, but never included in the production of T-fal cookware). Further, T-fal is a recyclable product.

The first thing that I noticed about this set was it’s weight compared to my old one.  When I put an empty pot on the stove, it doesn’t threaten to tip over on me.  Also, the handles are just a bit longer than my old set, which is a nice feature.  The grip is comfortable and they’re easy to handle.

The frying pan features T-fal’s Thermo-Spot heat indicator.  Simply watch for the spot to turn completely red and know that your pan is at the precise heat for perfect cooking.

T-fal cookware makes a great gift for parents and a great gift for parents to give to their adult kids.  Husbands, do not buy your wife a cookware set  for Christmas unless she specifically asks for it!  It’s practical but not romantic – tell your mom to buy them for her daughter-in-law and you’ll have a win-win situation.  Purchase T-fal products online here, or look for T-fal products here in Canada at stores like Costco, Walmart, Sears, Rona and more (complete list here).
