Uneaks

I have to hand it to the creators of Uneaks customizable footwear for kids. They took an idea, the creativity of children and their desire to express themselves, and created an entire company around it. When looking at Uneaks online for the first time I though to myself, “shoes with a window…ok big deal?” You see, I was looking at these shoes through my 32 year old mommy eyes. Had I viewed these shoes as a child, the reaction would be so much different, as I learned.

We were sent the Pink Rev style of shoes from Uneaks to check out, along with an assortment of super cool fun patterned socks. The Pink Rev shoe starts in size 8 for toddlers and goes up to children’s size 3.

My 2 year old is a size 7 so these shoes will be a perfect fit in the spring. However, this didn’t stop her from putting these shoes on when we received them – even though she only had on her own plain socks, she still poked at the window on the side of her shoes curiously. Thankfully, 2 year olds (for the most part) are happy to wear what we put them in, so I don’t have a little diva trying to assert her fashion independence just yet, but I can see how Uneaks would be a win-win for parents and children. By simply changing their socks, children can change the way the shoe looks.

I know the concept sounds pretty simple, but given the opportunity to have a say in what they wear is a big deal to kids. Being different, being a perfect match with an outfit, being a bit goofy…depending on the child, you’ve got a winner here with these shoes.

The socks available from Uneaks are really cool too – while they can be worn with other shoes of course, they are especially perfect for Uneaks because each sock is actually different on each side. To change the look of their shoes, a child could simply switch socks from one foot to the other. Fun! Even though we reviewed girl’s shoes and socks from Uneaks, the company was kind enough to send us an extra pair of Madagascar socks for my 5 year old son which he loves.Uneaks carries shoes for both boys and girls, but I think girls would have the most fun with the customizable options of these shoes.
