Dremel Multi-Max

Oh the men in our lives – what do we buy for them this Christmas? Ladies, this is not the time to get him a new xbox subscription or gym membership. No, no, we need to band together here and be creative. You see, I like getting my husband something that he loves (like a new tool, rooaaaarrr!) but that also benefits the household in the end (projects completed, check!) Win, win! That xbox live subscription isn’t going to get your walls sanded and painted anytime soon (trust me, my husband is sitting here right now playing Call of Duty).

The Dremel Multi-Max comes in it’s own case (perfect since I can’t stand my husband leaving his tools everywhere) and has 7 accessories:

  • Flexible Scraper Blade, MM610
  • ¾” Wood Flush Cut Blade, MM440
  • 3” Wood and Drywall Saw Blade, MM450
  • Hook and Loop Pad, MM11
  • 60, 120, and 240 Grit Paper, Wood, MM70W

So what can your handyman accomplish with the Dremel Multi-Max?
This small tool can take on cutting, grinding, sanding, scraping and grout removal to name a few household jobs. My husband, upon checking it out when we received it a few weeks ago, said it would be perfect for cutting baseboards since this is a current project in our household. New tools are like new toys, he couldn’t wait to try it out and he was right – it’s been a useful tool during this project. After reading about the other things the Dremel Multi-Max can do, I have a whole list of tasks for my husband in the new year! The first task will be lifting the lino in one of our bathrooms using the Multi-Max.

This past year more than ever, families are fixing up rather than moving up – it’s more economical to do home renovations than to build or purchase a new house and many families are tacking these tasks on their own. Even I, who will happily watch from the couch but never attempt a project on my own, know that having the right tools can mean the difference between success and failure.

Dremel has teamed up with home improvement expert Paul Ryan (host of “Kitchen Renovations” on the DIY Network) to offer families do-it-yourself tips for 10 of the most common home repair and remodelling projects. They also say you can do these projects each in 30 minutes or less, hence the name 30 Minute Miracles. The 30 Minute Miracle brochure is available here for viewing online or printing out. The projects I’d love my husband to take-on with the Dremel Multi-Max (and accessories that can be purchased separately) would be #2 Closet Shelves and #5 Sparkling Faucets (I had no idea a Dremel tool could accomplish this).

Dremel is holding a great contest right now to promote 30 Minute Miracles. Already have a Dremel or know someone who does? Submit your best household home improvement or remodeling tip that can be accomplished in 30 minutes or less using Dremel tools. The grand prize winner will receive a $2500 American Express gift card! Entries are accepted until December 31st and all contest info is available here.Just because I don’t do renovations in our household doesn’t mean a lot of women don’t love getting dirty with remodeling projects and doing some amazing work. The versatility of this tool and ease of use makes it a great gift for anyone who owns a home, as simple as that sounds. We all have household projects we’d like to do and having an all-in-one tool like the Dremel Multi-Max makes it possible for the average homeowner to tackle them. Just browsing online I found the Dremel Multi-Max for $99 on sale at HomeDepot.ca for Canadians and $99 at Sears.com for US residents.
Have a list of household projects you’d like to get to in the new year? 1 reader is going to win a Dremel Multi-Max to help you get the job done. To enter, just check out the 30 Minute Miracles brochure from Dremel and then leave me a comment here telling me which of the 10 projects listed you’d like to attempt in the new year (or in my case you’d like your husband to attempt while you watch from the sidelines offering encouragement and the odd critique).
