Play-Doh is a part of childhood! When I was a child, I remember my favorite Play-Doh set involved a character that I could push Play-Doh through, and then happily cut his hair. For hours. Imaginative play is what Play-Doh is all about and countless sets are available to stimulate that play.
We were sent two Play-Doh sets to check out for the Holiday 2009 Gift Guide! The first set we played with is the Play-Doh Magic Swirl Ice Cream Shoppe (winner of Parents Magazine 2008 Best Toys of the Year Award). The set includes 4 cans of Play-Doh and a total of over 40 molds/accessories – there’s so many fun things to make and mold that I think it was a little overwhelming for the kids at first. It did, however, ensure a solid hour of play the first time we used it which is pretty unheard of for my busy 5 year old and toddler.
The second Play-Doh set we checked out was Play-Doh Burger Builder. This toy is the 2009 Family Fun Toy of the Year Award winner! Complete with 5 cans of Play-Doh (appropriately colored to make burgers, tomatoes, lettuce and of course french fries!) and lots of accessories, my kids enjoyed making meals for each other. I’m eager for my kids to use this toy with the toy kitchen coming for my daughter’s 2nd birthday from her aunt!
Children love Play-Doh and both these sets are great additions to the other molds/accessories they may already have. At $14.99 USD they are perfect for gift giving!
