Project Zambi from Hasbro

When I found out my kids would be receiving a Fur Real Friends Zambi the Baby Elephant from Hasbro to check out, I was eager to introduce the Fur Real Friends line to our household and Zambi especially after reading about the project behind this adorable little guy. Project Zambi was started by a group of Hasbro employees to help raise awareness and funds for the estimated 15 million children who have lost parents and relatives to the AIDS epidemic in Africa and around the world. Hasbro has committed to donate 50 percent of the net profits from Zambi the Baby Elephant (a minimum of $500,000) to the Project Zambi fund, part of the Hasbro Children’s Fund, beginning in 2009.

Zambi the Baby Elephant was a hit in our household as soon as he was out of the box. My daughter fell in love with him and he’s been her constant toy of choice these past few days. The fact that Zambi responds to touch on his back, chest, and trunk with trumpeting and chewing sounds is a big deal to the kids.

Zambi also wiggles his ears and moves his trunk up and down (we learned that if you put your finger under his trunk he will snuggle his trunk around it!) Zambi the Baby Elephant comes with a bracelet so that children or parents can show their support for Project Zambi by wearing it (great discussion point).
If you are already familiar with the Fur Real Friends line, and are thinking about having one under the tree this year, I encourage you to purchase Zambi the Baby Elephant. Not that all the other critters are not just as adorable, but you can feel good knowing you are helping a really great cause. Thanks Hasbro for bringing Zambi the Baby Elephant into our household this season!
