I really like the idea behind My Princess Academy. As the site explains in the Parents section, little girls who dreamed of being a princess saw only one version – this perfect idealized version of what a princess is. And so, they try to imitate her.
What happens when we try to imitate perfection? We fail, because clearly none of us are perfect. What if we taught little girls to be their own princess, someone who has beauty that shines through from the inside. My Princess Academy teaches the 4 Pillars of being a princess – Generosity, Intelligence, Beauty and Confidence. It’s an online site where little girls can play games, participate in activities and earn princess points to decorate her own princess dorm room. The access code is obtained from purchasing a product from the My Princess Academy online store.
We were sent a beautiful Princess Pettiskirt in Fuchsia with Purple Trim from My Princess Academy. This is the first pettiskirt I’ve tried with my daughter, and I was surprised by how full it is compared to the pretty tutus we have – a pettiskirt is so much more, literally! I wondered how the one size fits all would work with a (almost) two year old but she had her pettiskirt on in no time and it fit great!
