Established in London in 2006, Babymel was created to offer parents an attractive yet functional diaper bag at a price that every day parents could afford. When I first checked out the Babymel website and drooled over the bags, I was happy to note that the attractive prices of the bags had not changed over the years. Not every mama can afford a $300 diaper bag when there’s diapers, clothing and more to buy that takes priority. Still, that doesn’t mean a fashionable mom should settle for the diaper bag on the shelf at the local department store.

diaper bags With a variety of bags ranging from Big Slouchy styles (see above) to a Tool Bag style that dad wouldn’t mind carrying either, Babymel’s selection is as impressive as the prices.

Babymel red diaper bag When presented with the opportunity to choose a Babymel Bag to review, I surprised myself by choosing a bag in a color that I normally wouldn’t – I’m all about brown and pink for baby girls but I kind of did that all with Nevaeh, so this time I’m looking at other color options for my baby items. Since my Britax stroller is red, I thought this bag would be the perfect compliment to that when we’re out and about (if anything, I’m all about being matchy-matchy!)

I liked this bag immediately on site (the color is so vibrant and the fabric has a nice sheen to it) and upon further inspection liked it even more when I discovered the great features it had. The bag’s three outer pockets consist of one large pocket on one side that closes with a magnet and two smaller pockets on the other side with no closure. Babymel diaper bags

Most diaper bags have side pockets for bottles and this one doesn’t; however, it has something much more valuable for moms – a side pocket that’s completely insulated and enclosed with a zipper – perfect for keeping cold bottles cold and already warmed bottles toasty warm. Genius!

The 13″ H x 17″ W of this bag is an ideal size (I learned the hard way to really pay attention to dimensions online when ordering bags – sometimes you can end up with something that looks more like a suitcase than a shoulder-bag!) With strategically-placed pockets (and that genius bottle holder!) this bag has a place for everything (the change pad even folds up into an inside pocket rather than being loose in the bag like other brands) and can carry everything you need without making you feel like you’re hauling luggage. Plus, it looks fabulous (big plus!)
