Crazy Forts (closed)

At first glace, a website with “Just add bedsheets for endless fun!” may have you doing a double take. Rest assured, Crazy Forts is a website with a product for kids (maybe it was just me the day I first saw that line but it struck me as cute). Actually, when I discovered Crazy Forts I knew this was something my kids would go nuts over and was thrilled that co-creator and dad Jim Whitney offered to send us one to review.
The concept is pretty basic, it’s a box full of rods and connectors that helps you create awesome forts. Have you ever tried creating one with your household furniture? I think we all have, and the results can be mixed. Me, I’m not a very good architect and it’s hard for the kids to crawl under the confines of a chair or end table, sheets fall off, and oh I also need that chair back for dinner, thanks.

My husband set to work creating this House design. What we should have paid attention to was the instructions to make sure the Crazy Forts words are at the top of the ball because just inserting the rods anywhere did cause us some backtracking as we built (I say we because I was the surveyor, just so you know).

The kids loved it and happily played the rest of the evening inside and out. My husband stayed up late the following night and that next morning when we woke up, the kids were surprised to find that dad had built them another structure – the Castle!

There are 5 designs listed on the site (when you click on them blueprints open up!) and you can also check out designs made by other Crazy Forts kit owners on their Facebook Group (take a look at the one made with 5 kits, wow!)

Crazy Forts can be purchased through online retailers like Mastermind Toys or Barnes & Noble, and the site actually has a listing of retailers that carry Crazy Forts in each state or province (I was surprised at the small towns that had stores with Crazy Forts available in my province).

1 reader is going to win their own Crazy Forts kit, complete with 25 balls and 44 sticks. To enter, simply tell me what retailer closest to you sells Crazy Forts (click on Where to Buy on the home page).
