If the home page of Totally Texty throws you off a bit, I’d suggest checking out the Net Speak area of the site to get a great introduction to the shortcuts used in texting. I feel old reading the status updates of my niece and nephew on Facebook; from time to time they humor me and explain exactly what it is they’re saying.
Totally Texty is a product and site that appeals to tweens and teens, but does the product work or is it just a bunch of pretty packaging? Created by a stay at home mom who was looking for a product to meet her own tween’s hair care needs, Totally Texty is a line of shampoo and conditioner that while appealing to tweens is attractive to moms too because of a unique deodorizer added. If you have a tween in your household, you may already be familiar with the smell left behind after regular shampoos. My little guy is 5 and already the cutesy fruity kid shampoos are just not doing the job.
Since Totally Texty is aimed for tweens and teens, I enlisted the help of my niece and nephew (16 and 14 respectively) to review this for me. My niece received ddg (drop dead gorgeous) shampoo and conditioner and my nephew received ytmn (you’re the man now) shampoo. The ddg shampoo is quite concentrated so it’s easy to forget and use more than you need to. All hair products are for ‘normal’ hair with possible new products coming out to address other hair needs in the future. My niece has fine hair so she would have liked to have more moisturizing in the shampoo (it left her hair a little staticky). My nephew (and his mom) liked the smell of the ytmn shampoo. It worked well but the scents used could result in irritation for kids prone to eczema like my nephew. He did get a rash from the scents used in the products but otherwise really liked it. Both products left the teen’s hair smelling great and they both got a kick out of the Totally Texty product line. It’s definitely something not meant for mom and dad but specifically for them.
