Kick Off to Christmas Giveaway 9 – My Hip-T

“Don’t let your style fall through the crack.” With a tag line like that, this company piqued my interest. I love companies that can take a humorous look at life’s little annoyances, and find a solution! Christine and Kelly created Hip-T after deciding there had to be a better way to layer clothing to cover the potentially exposed area between low-rise jeans and the shirt. Layering clothing is great, but not when you’re dealing with bunching up shirts, or sweating from the additional layers in the summer or in a heated building in the cooler months. After brainstorming, the result was the Hip-T!

Hip-T came into my life at the perfect time! Literally the day before I discovered it, I was having an MSN chat with my friend Nicole, new mom to cutie pahtootie Addison. She was telling me how it seemed like all her pre-pregnancy shirts had somehow changed in the way they fit her. They were shorter somehow, yet she knew she had not grown taller after pregnancy. I told her the same weird thing happened to me!! I’m not exactly sure why (tell me, has this happened to you too?) Maybe it’s because the girls grew during pregnancy and didn’t go back to their pre-preggy size later and the extra lift is causing shirts to ride higher. Or maybe my torso really did stretch a bit after pregnancy? I have no explanation for this weird phenomenon but I’m glad I am not the only one. I know other moms, regardless of them experiencing the weird torso-extender phenomenon (yes, I have named it) are really sensitive about stretch marks peeking out from under a shirt, or a little extra baby weight that refuses to budge. The Hip-T is a great wardrobe accessory for all these reasons.

The Hip-T is a band of fabric that is worn around the waist, giving the illusion that you are wearing a layering shirt underneath when you are simply wearing an extra little piece of fabric instead. This works out so well for me because, I don’t know what changed with pregnancy, but since having my second baby a year ago I run hot! I can break out in a sweat at home at random points throughout the day, so having an extra layer under a t-shirt is difficult.

Christine and Kelly sent me two Hip-T’s to review. A white one in size medium and a black one in size XXS. Hello, XXS?? I was assured by the lovely ladies at Hip-T that it wasn’t an error on their part, but they wanted me to try it to compare. Guess what, they both fit, just in different ways. Shown here, you can see the width difference between the XXS and the Medium. The material is a stretchy-cotton so the both fit around my waist but one had more coverage than the other.

Here I am with little miss birthday girl, wearing the white Hip-T. It was nice being able to sit down without grabbing the back of my shirt to pull down in case I was giving our party guests an extra party favor! I know I’ll definitely get a lot of use out of these and can’t wait until summer to wear them with a tank top. I can finally wear a pile of shirts that I had put away because they simply did not “fit right” after having a baby. Starting at $15.95 they are a great deal too, about the same price as a tank top, without the extra layer and heat that a tank brings.

Kelly and Christine at Hip-T want you to cover your cover your assets too! They are generously offering TWO Feisty Frugal and Fabulous readers the chance to win a Hip-T in the style and color of your choice! To enter to be one of the lucky two, please check out Hip-T and come back here and tell me together in ONE post:

1) What your favorite style and color of Hip-T would be.
2) How you think the Hip-T would help your wardrobe (do you have a weird torso extension like me, stretch marks to cover, baby leftover cocoon, or just a washing machine that shrinks shirts?)
