What an awesome find Bamboo Marketplace was! This consumer-conscious company (their prices are fantastic, downright amazing actually) is actually based in my home province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bamboo fabric is now a favorite in our household and when I found this company with prices as low as theirs, I knew they were worth a second look. Prices are in Canadian dollars which is an added bonus for US shoppers as well.
As a product, Bamboo is one of those products that makes everyone happy. At its huge growth rate of 3-4ft per day (!!!), it is a sustainable resource that is grown without the use of chemicals or fertilizers because they simply are just not needed. Consumers are happy because they can purchase a product that is eco-friendly, has awesome breathability, and is unbelievably soft. The only issue for me as a consumer comes from the price point – I love bamboo fabric but also don’t want to spend more than I am comfortable with. Some companies may try and up the price of their bamboo goods and this is what I really respect about Bamboo Marketplace – their prices are so reasonable. I received a Brown T-Shirt which my husband promptly took from me, put on, and declared his own. Luckily I also received a fabulous pair of Yoga Pants from Bamboo Marketplace that I could claim as my own. Made with 70% bamboo and 25% organic cotton and 5% spandex, these pants are so incredibly soft and comfortable it’s difficult to explain.
The pants were an essential item to pack for our road trip through 3 provinces – in the car they were like wearing comfortable PJ pants except you don’t LOOK like you’re wearing PJ pants. I think they’d be perfect for flights as well. Aside from travelling, these pants are obviously a favorite for regular mommy duty at home.
Made with a relaxed roomy fit and drawstring waist, these Yoga Pants look awesome with a tank and flip flops. I received a size medium but probably would have been ok with a size small (maybe that’s why I like Bamboo Marketplace too, I’m a size small, ha!) I wash mine in cold water and tumble dry as normal (you can also lay them flat to dry). Fabric softener isn’t needed because of the natural softness of bamboo.
The icing on the cupcake here? These pants sell for $35.00 CDN at Bamboo Marketplace! I’d easily end up paying double that at a store in the mall. I’d tell you more about the awesome bamboo socks I received too but my husband took them as well! He did say that they feel great in his work boots (likely due to the breathability of bamboo, he shrugged at my hypothesis…men.)
