I am going to post more contests tonight but wanted to blab a bit here first. I’ve had an incredibly stressful 24 hours and thought it might be good to vomit it here on my blog (nice eh). Yesterday my 11 month old had allergy testing done bc she broke out in hives from a baby cereal at 6m old. We found out she is severely allergic to dairy. This is a huge shock because she’s on a dairy based formula!!! She’s thriving on Good Start, has no allergic signs from it at all, yet she’s allergic to dairy. Obviously whatever milk proteins are taken out in their “broken down proteins” process that makes Good Start easier to digest are the very same things that she is very very allergic to. DH and I had to learn how to use an EpiPen and we have to carry it with her at all times now.
So, because I’m an obsessive freak I have been reading as much as I can about the allergy and trying to find recipes that are dairy free and trying to find out what foods are dairy free. Apparently Oreos are dairy free?! She’s never had one (I’m also a junk-food nazi with my kids, my 4 year old had his firs Oreo a few months aho) but it’s good to know there’s normal food out there that she can have.
If anyone has any experience with allergies or some good resources, please let me know!
So anyway, we didn’t fill the EpiPen Rx in the city yesterday since we figured we’d just do it in the small town we live in (an hour outside the city) since her info is all here, blah blah blah. I went to the Pharmacy here and was told they don’t keep them in stock!! If I needed one I couldn’t get it until Monday. So off to the city we went again this afternoon to get the Rx filled. Lesson learned.
Aside from freaking out about my precious girl, I’m trying to keep preoccupied with regular mommy stuff. I’m planning for Christmas, I’m getting organized for nursery school stuff for my DS. After seeing all the great Etsy shops out there and all the other Internet stores I can shop at, I’m going to reduce my stress substantially and do a big part of my Christmas shopping online this year.
I’m almost done organizing my Kick-Off to Christmas Giveaway Event, and will have details up early next week I think along with a button to promote it. There’s some amazing giveaways lined up for my Fabulous readers!
Ok, off to hunt for contests and bring them back for you!
xoxo.
