Get a Double Shot of Denim at Mark’s

I love this time of the year! The snow is slowly starting to melt (it has to, it has NO choice, Spring is coming), people are smiling more, stores start displaying pretty pastels and floral patterns, people start making summer holiday plans, and – oh yeah – Denim Buy One Get One 50% Off is back at Mark’s!

Mark's Denim BOGO

It’s time to get out of those sweatpants and cozy-by-the-fire yoga pants, and head on out into the sunshine. I know – we get to a certain point in the winter months where you’re so bundled under long jackets, boots, scarves and hats that it’s a waste to wear something cute when no one will see it anyway (I can’t be the only one that feels this way!) With Spring just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to stock up on some new denim and more at Mark’s.

I had the pleasure of an in-store visit with Mark’s Jean Expert Deneatra Ford when she was in Regina recently, and she walked me through what’s new in denim at Mark’s this spring to help me get a jump on my shopping. Deneatra says that Denim is one of the hottest trends for the Spring season and we’re going to see it in jeans, crops, shirts and jackets – all making a comeback!

Suki Capris ($102.00)

Destruction is one of the key trends for Spring, she notes, with holes, extreme sanding/blasting, grinding around front and back pockets ( a worn in and beaten look). I have embraced destruction in denim this season and can’t stop buying new styles in destructed denim (seriously, I think I own 4 pairs of destructed denim jeans as of this week!) I love the look, and how it can be styled perfectly with a blazer and heels or t-shirt and strappy shoes.

I also learned more about Mark’s huge Silver Jeans collection (truly, I was shocked at the sheer amount of denim available at Mark’s, but specifically the styles in Silver which has been my favorite for over a decade). While Silver’s Suki fit has been my go-to over the years, I may have to introduce myself to Elyse, and I think you should meet her too. As explained on the Marks.com website: With a comfortable mid rise, relaxed hip and thigh and eased curvy fit, the Elyse is designed to eliminate muffin top. It’s crafted in stretch Fluid denim that’s ultra soft and body shaping. Hello, Elyse!

Chloe Curvy Straight Leg Jeans ($69.99)

While Skinny and Slim Leg Silhouette Jeans are becoming a staple in women’s wardrobes, another style quickly becoming one of the hottest trends is the Straight Leg Jean. Not as wide as a boot cut, but not as slim fitting as a skinny, the Straight Leg Jean is represented in the Chloe fit from Denver Hayes (DH3). Offering a great fit for those with an hourglass figure, these DH3 Curvy jeans fit smaller at the waist with no gaping at the back (we all have experienced jeans that have that gaping at the back of the waist, right?) Primarily cotton, the fabric also includes tencel for softness and good drape, and stretch fibres for the right amount of flexibility. For a laid-back, worn-in look, these straight-leg jeans feature fading, whiskering and a little destruction on the legs.

Me, looking for Spring. Nope, not there either.

I had to make the Silver Suki Capris mine after seeing them in store! I rolled down the hem to show off the fringe (and also, because there’s still snow on the ground!)

Heads up, if you’re looking for capris for the Spring, now is the time to shop. Not only is the Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off sale an incredible incentive to, but capris are sold ridiculously fast in store and online – probably because everyone is aching for spring sunshine to be here so we’re optimistically shopping ahead of that! So, for best selection it’s smart to shop ahead of the Spring melt if it hasn’t reached yet, and then walk outside in your new fabulous denim showing off your shopping and style expertise.
