Giveaways and Reviews My Fabulous Life

The Home Depot Bathroom Reno is Complete!

Late last fall, we started out on a bathroom renovation project with Home Depot Canada.  Our main bathroom has been a work in progress since we bought this house four years ago.  The size of the room was impressive, the decorating not so much.  So, through the years we have made some massive changes (new flooring, paint, and vanity to start) and some smaller changes (new lighting and fixtures).  We started out on our #TileFabulous project and oh what a project it was!

The biggest change has finally been completed – a complete tile overhaul for the tub surround and shower!  It wasn’t without some frustration and setbacks, like many home renovation projects, however!  We learned early on that the original tiles had been glued to the wall, which meant pulling down the drywall and putting up new drywall before we could tile!

Are you ready to see?  OK, here is what our bathroom looked like when we looked at purchasing this house:

I know. Mexican resort looking lino flooring, sailboats and seashells, oh my!  Upon moving in and within the first few months, we laid new lino, pulled out the bathroom vanity and replaced with a much more modern one and painted:

The bathroom was starting to look fantastic (minus a few missing baseboards!) but the tile stood out to me like a sore thumb.  A year after moving in we tiled our kitchen backsplash and since then, I had been nudging my husband to tile our bathroom as well.

The wait was soooo worth it.  Here is our completed Home Depot #TileFabulous makeover!  The shower surround and tub surround are now tiled in an ultra modern tile and I can stop nudging my husband on this project.  Until I find another one, that is…

What do you think?  I love how the tiles brighten the room – but more so I just adore how a tile makeover has made the room look just as modern as that of my friends in newly built houses.  And that’s the ideal right?  Spend less, figure out how to do it yourself, and sit back admiring a job well done!
