My 6 year old loves a good game of Simon Says. He never tires of it! He’s played a similar game on my iPod, you know, the one we all played on a clunky hand-held as kids. When I had the opportunity to check out a new product from Mattel (released summer 2010) called Loopz, I knew he would be intregued.
Loopz uses sensors and lights to create a fun platform for a variety of challenging games.
By sliding your hand in and out of the Loopz, you compete to be the best at following the rhythm, creating music (a variety of musical instrument sounds are used), and keeping the beat. You can also challenge people to competitions.
My husband and I tried out the Loopz first, and it turns out he is better than me! I found myself knocking over the Loopz when I couldn’t keep up (that would be my one critique, to have the base a little heavier so uncoordinated people like me don’t knock it over so easily).
Elijah got a kick out of it, and even my 2 year old wanted to wave her hands through the Loopz to hear the sounds – sure she couldn’t compete in the actual game but she loved making music with it, so that works for me!
Check out this video on YouTube from The Loopz Band! Elijah, of course, thinks it’s awesome.
