In our house we have a few no-fail meals that we can turn to when the days are rushed and we don’t want to pick up fast food.
One of them, like many families, is pasta! It’s quick, easy, and pretty tasty. Still, pasta and sauce can get boring if you don’t find some creative ways to spice things up.
We’ve been a spaghetti family for years but now eat spaghettini (yeah I know, big jump!) and linguini as often.
While opening a jar of sauce can get ‘er done on busy nights, we like to use some of our favorite pasta recipes which take a few more steps than that. One of them, which I simply can not share for fear of being kicked out of the family is my sister in law Angie’s Angisghetti! Yum. Still, even though I have the recipe, I can’t make it like she does!
We recently got a great selection of Barilla Classical pastas to try (including Rotini and Penne Rigate, whoa stepping out of my pasta comfort zone!) and made a few of our favorite recipes using Barilla instead of our usual pasta. My husband even commented that this pasta tasted better! Hmmm…maybe I’m onto something with Angie’s Angisghetti’s secret ingredient?

I roast chicken in the oven, pull it apart, put it in a skillet with bell peppers, carrots and tomato sauce and serve it on top of whatever pasta I have covered in cheddar… mmm….

I married an Italian and we eat pasta every Sunday…. tradition…. and our favorite that I cook is Pasta Al Forno. (Baked Rigatoni pasta with sauce, Mozza and grated Romano)

My entire family loves pasta and we eat it at least 2x a week. Personally I like stuffed shells and lasagna as my favourites.
Good ol Spaghetti. We also add hamburger or chicken, mushrooms, peppers, canned tomatoes and onions to the sauce and top it all off with shredded cheese. I also love fettucini alfredo.

My favorite is to stir fry whatever veggies you have on hand.. garlic,onions, pepper, zukes, mushrooms, and then top with diced tomatoes, basil, oregano… serve hot over pasta of choice and top with a smatter of freshly grated parmesan cheese.
