Head Organics

Launched in 1969 when organic had a whole other meaning, Head Organics is focused on bringing their customers products that are healthy, natural and high performance without a high price tag attached. 100% vegan and gluten-free, Head Organics hair care products are full of the good stuff!

What will you find in Head Organics products? Naturally derived, certified organic ingredients (certified by the USDA National Organic Program), botanicals, EFA’s, glycerin, vegetable oils, natural proteins and coconut!

What’s out? Pretty much all the ingredients in the shampoos we
grew up using – parabens, phtalates, benzyl alcohol, glycols, and sodium laurel sulfate.

While most of us used these chemicals in our haircare products without a second thought, new research is pointing out that not only are these chemicals unsafe for our eco system, they’re also dangerous to own own health and wellbeing.

Research has shown that the average woman applies up to 200 chemicals to her skin (yes including the skin on her head) in any given day. Freaky, isn’t it? While we can’t avoid all chemicals, I can get behind the choice to minimize when I can. Did you know that in the shower, the hot water washes off our skin’s sebum (the oily layer that helps protect our skin from absorbing too much liquid) which then makes us especially vulnerable to the chemicals we put on our skin in the shower and right after. So I’m thinking, eliminating chemicals at the same time when our body’s own protection is compromised is a pretty smart idea.

I was able to check out a variety of products from Head Organics and have been pleasantly surprised by the results. You see, I’ve kind of had a grudge against organic or vegan hair products because some of them have left me, literally, tangled up. I joked to my friends that apparently my hair needed those nasty chemicals to keep it manageable.

Head Organics 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner f
eels just like my regular shampoo in my hair. It’s thick, lathers well, and rinses out clean without leaving my hair tangled (thanks in part to the conditioner included I’m sure).

I finish up with Head Organics Leave-In Conditioning Spray in my towel-dried hair. This makes my hair totally manageable and so easy to comb through. Wow! Manageable hair with organic shampoo – this is a winner.

My husband even got to try out a product from Head Organics. The Head Organics Styling Wax replaced the smelly other product he was using before (ok, it replaced it because I threw it out, but I digress). I liked the light scent of this styling wax and my husband liked that it didn’t leave his hair ‘crusty’ the next morning. Check out Head Organics online or keep your eyes open the next time you’re at the salon – maybe they carry it and you’ve never given it a second glance. Your health, and that of the world beyond your drain, are worth learning a bit more.
