Goldfish Colours {a Rainbow of Goodness!}

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Goldfish Crackers for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Back to school means back to routine and back to lunches, after-school-snacks, before-bed-snack and basically let’s just call it what it is, the season of snacks. My kids are allowed to pull items from their lunch kits to snack on during the day, and my son in grade 8 is even allowed to snack in class provided it’s healthy and he doesn’t make a mess (I applaud his teacher’s genius on this one – teenagers are hungry little beasts and if you keep them fed, you keep them happy!)

I’m conscious of the quality and amount of food I’m putting in their lunch kits, and a little concerned when I hear about the snacks some of their friends have (but hey, not my kids, not my circus, not my issue in the long run). Still, I wonder if it’s due to lack of time or lack of information on how easy it is to grab easy, delicious and fun snacks for kits that they’ll actually eat.

Goldfish Baked Snack Crackers have been a part of our household for years – they’re delicious in tomato soup, tossed with popcorn, or in a celery boat with hummus, to name a few creative ways we eat them!

I purchase them not only because of the delicious baked cheddar flavour, but also because of the ingredients within. Did you know that Green Goldfish crackers come from watermelon and huito juice concentrates mixed with extracted tumeric. That’s huito. Pronounced wee-toe. Colourful and fun to say! Weeeeee toe! Now, wait for this next cool fact…

Red Goldfish crackers are coloured using a mix of beet juice concentrate and paprika extracted from sweet red peppers. Wholesome & colourful. You can’t beet that!

My kids would turn their noses up at a beet, but have no idea (and truly, they’re kids, they don’t care!) that Goldfish Crackers have beet juice concentrate in them! Orange Goldfish crackers use annatto extracted from the seed of the achiote tree. And, all Cheddar Goldfish Crackers are baked with real cheddar, no powdery neon-stuff here.

No artificial colours of flavours and low in saturated fat, it’s no surprise little Goldfish Crackers are always smiling, with that kind of snack-super-power inside them.

What creative ways do you have for munching on Goldfish Crackers? If you haven’t tried our three favorite ways: tomato soup topping, topping celery boats with hummus or sprinkled on popcorn – you must! Of course, I haven’t mentioned how shoving a handful into your mouth when the kids aren’t looking is definitely an approved mom-method as well. Visit the website for more info: Goldfish Canada

  • I’ve not seen these coloured goldfish yet. Not sure I like them, all those colours put me off really. Why change something that was good anyway?

  • I really haven’t tried goldfish, but I do try to have healthy snacks on my kitchen counter so I can’t go looking for unhealthy items when I am hungry.

  • It seems like a much healthier option to use beet juices etc for coloring the crackers than the chemicals of food coloring that can cause problems in children

  • My family buys a lot of Goldfish crackers for snacks and soup swimmers. We even buy the flavored ones. I have not seen the baked rainbow fishies yet though. OMG I’m excited!

  • I’m loving the celery boat with hummus and goldfish on top, have to try with the kids. It’s great that they use real veggie juices and extracts from trees. If your kids snack and they all do then Goldfish is a good choice.

  • I haven’t tried the colorful goldfish crackers yet. So far, I’ve had pretzel, original and cheese.

  • A healthier Goldfish snack, can’t be a bad thing…I personally don’t like the original kind so I will have to try these!

  • I always have goldfish in the cupboard for when the grandkids come over and I must admit I grab a handful for myself when I get a munchie attack!

  • Back when my daughter went to school, snacks weren’t monitored like they are today. I cringe when I think of the foods she wanted to take to school for snacks.

  • These are so nice, and add a nice touch to soups! It could stimulate the appetite to finish a big bowl of healthy soup, esp that kids might not think of wanting to eat!

  • What a great fact to learn that these tasty goldfish crackers are dyed with beet juice.I love knowing this! Our children and grandchildren love them for snacks.@GoldfishCanada 🙂

  • Even as an adult, I love Goldfish crackers to snack on – I appreciate it more knowing they contain real vegetable juices!

  • I’ve been buying Goldfish crackers for my daughter for a decade! I love to see the changes with incorporating watermelon and huito & beets etc to make this a snack I feel good about my kids eating.

  • What a great way to get your kids to eat a healthy snack. Actually with the beet juice and watermelon concentrate they make a great snack for adults too. The goldfish swimming down the hummus is a perfect fun way to serve them.

  • Love the idea of celery rivers – so adorable! My kids love goldfish, nice to see natural colours!

  • We always have Goldfish in our pantry! It’s a must-have snack. We also love it with tomato soup but haven’t tried it in hummus! The rainbow colours are extra fun too – love it.
