Mastermind Toys $100 GC Giveaway

Mastermind Toys is now open in Regina and it’s one of our must-stops when heading to the east end of our city. Always busy, always full of unique and fun toys, activities and more, it’s been a very welcome addition to our community. True story: I purchase Mastermind Toys Gift Cards in groups to give as birthday gifts. With three kids in elementary school, there’s always a birthday party to go to!

Mastermind Toys is a little misleading, mind you, because the store (and online at MastermindToys.com) has so much more than “toys” including books, scooters, bikes and tons of outdoor play items. Heely’s are known as a skate-shoe, with one or more removable wheels embedded in each sole, similar to inline skates, allowing the child to walk, run, or, by shifting their weight to their heels, roll. Shoes for younger kids have 2 wheels for more stability, and then can progress to the 1 wheel design which the shoes for older kids come with.

My daughter Nevaeh is 9, and flipped-out when she discovered her Heely’s from Mastermind Toys waiting at home for her to check out. She had been envying them at school and beyond! Cautiously, she tried them on and practiced moving across our hardwood floors. And, just like a person on rollerskates for the first time, she was pretty wobbly and unsure.

The following day, we had friends over for a barbecue, and she was showing off her balance and moves on the cement in our backyard. Within 24 hours she had a good, basic, roll going and could stop no problem and even maneuver a turn. We progressed, then, to the bike/walking path through our neighbourhood. It’s a great way for us to get some one-on-one time together, and it’s good for me because I have to jog to keep up with her! Win-win. How, of course, her younger sister wants her own Heely’s so I think that’s the plan for this summer.
